Charming, Isn't It?

My most recent obsession: Pandora charm bracelets.  They are amazing.  The charms screw on to the smooth bracelet, rather than the traditional ones that need to be soldered onto a chain link bracelet – it’s so easy!  The charms are available in silver or gold, and they range from owls to eight balls.  My favorite newest edition: dice for good luck.

New Year, New Energy

I recently received a wonderful surprise from my brother and sister – a gorgeous Maya Brenner Malachite necklace from Girlshop.  This beautiful, deep green stone is said to provide the wearer with harmony, serenity, knowledge, and patience, among many other things – what more could one ask for?

Permanent Lines

Inkfrock
Yesterday I was hooked and did nothing but watch the Miami Ink marathon on TLC.  The awesome traditional tattoos Ami and Garver had done in Hawaii reminded me of an article I recently read in a magazine about Behnaz Sarafpour’s new Spring collection.  She said she was inspired by a tribal tattoo she saw on a man’s face during her travels and has brought it to others in the form of a gorgeous new summer frock, seen above (scanned from the Harper's Bazaar January 2006 issue) - much cooler than permanent ink.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho! A Pirate's Life For Me

I’m so glad to see that others find pirate-inspired gear as utterly charming as I do.  Perhaps it was never really “in” before, but I love donning bad-ass detailing!  J. Crew recently had a darling pair of ballet flats and a belt adorned with tiny pirate crests.  I have also fallen in love with the Ralph Lauren Rugby line, which is completely decked out with skull and crossbones emblems.  Unfortunately, they do not have a website yet, but there are stores located in New York, New Canaan, and Boston.  Also, check out the ever so saucy Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean for inspiration.  Welcome to the Caribbean, love.

Hey everyone...come and see how good I look!

Christina_applegate1

While taking a little time to unwind, I’ve been watching some hilarious films, such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy - a man with, “a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo.”  Not only were the characters and lines so outrageously entertaining, but the clothing was ridiculous as well!  From Veronica Corningstone’s white polyester jumpsuit to Wes Mantooth’s neon coral jacket and tie combo, the style is truly that legendary 1970's glamour. It all reminded me of recent interview I saw of Madonna talking with Isaac about the '70's and the inspiration behind her newest album, Confessions on a Dance Floor. Unfortunately, I completely missed the days of the disco era, but was able to step inside the infamous Studio 54 a few years ago to watch Molly Ringwald star in the stage version of Cabaret on Broadway.  That’s a throwback.

Thirsty

Fairywoodnymph

It's already Wednesday, and I've begun contemplating the weekend's festivities per usual. I'm dying for the moment when I sidle up to the bar only to hear, "Bartender, I'll have a Whispers of the Forest Nymph." The perfect frothy conconction of whiskey, sherry, port, sugar and ice, this one is guaranteed to have you beckoning your muse and telling secrets to the trees in no time.

Acela, Agenda

Tonight I'll be arriving in New York for two weeks, after being liberated from suburbia!  There are so many fabulous things I want to see and do, like hunt for vintage Pucci and check out some fresh new fashion exhibits, e.g. Fashion in Colors at the Cooper-Hewitt and Rara Avis: Selections from the Iris Barrel Apfel Collection at the Met. The new Fashion and Textile History Gallery at The Museum at FIT houses over 50,000 fashion and accessory garments and approximately 30,000 textiles -- and with at least 100 new works of art added every six months, I have some serious catching up to do!
