Surely you've heard of the hurricane by now. I live on a high floor, in an apartment with my sister, about a hundred yards from the water way downtown, in what I like to think of as Old New York, among the colonial and earliest remnants of the city. Every source we've consulted says we'll have to evacuate. Honestly, I've been working so frenetically that I cannot deal with another thing. So tomorrow afternoon we're checking into the Carlyle, way uptown and hopefully out of harm's way, until the storm blows over.
Hurricane Lauren! You're welcome to the sticks, by the way..but I prefer the Carlyle, too. Bonne souffle!

You even retreat in style. Love the Carlyle.

No pity for you. Little raindrops have begun to fall here. I think of it as a symphony with a coming very basso profundo movement. It's my 4th hurricane.
