What to wear this season? I just opened my mail and received a beautiful drawing from the artist who painted my portrait not so long ago. Of daffodils! On this rainy day, when I took a nap and laid in bed and listened to the twinkling downpour and was grateful that all the flowers are getting a drink just when they need it. This is the moment to burst forth in riotous bloom. Soon, soon. But what does it mean for fashion? Not bright colors, I don't think. But not black either. This spring I think I'll wear great little striped tops and maybe try out pants a time or two. I've spent the last few years in old-fashioned movie star mode and I'd definitely describe the new trend as more relaxed, casual. Easy, breezy ingenue. Well then, that's settled. Last night, my dear friend Lisa Rosman summed it up as only she can: it's like you're channeling both hepburns at once. Pitch-pefect, as always –– makes me think of Audrey on her fire escape, singing "Moon River" and strumming that lonesome guitar, and Kate off adventuring with Howard Hughes, flying over the night lights of Los Angeles in search of some secret place. As for the current scene, I'm off to eat my chicken pot pie, crisping in the oven as we speak, and dip into my Agnes Varda box set. Yum. What's inspiring you at the moment?
