Spending a week in Nebraska was fun because even though I was working most of the time, I did get to hit a handful of thrift stores on my way out of Lincoln yesterday. I've got a '90s jones for those flowered and print dresses from The Gap, Limited, or Express, the ones with the buttons down the front and the corset ties in back. Betsey Johnson and Anna Sui could also work but I kind of want the uber-mall labels of my youth. And lacy slips to wear as dresses. That was the other thing when I was about 13. Besides smoking cloves and listening to tapes and being you know, tortured by the mundane realities of existence. As was the case in Tupelo, and a couple of years ago in Charlottesville, lots of potential but nothing right. I can't really remember what else made the outfit besides the steel-toed combat boots I used to clunk around in. Clunk. Clunk. Clunk. And Chanel "Vamp"! I remember how it was sold out everywhere and my friend Sabrina either bought or stole the tester for my birthday. And so I had it.

Windowlicker - from the French for window shopping: faire du lèche-vitrine - often appears on Tuesday and Thursdays at 10am EST-ish.
The boots and dresses. I remember those days of "soft meets hard edge." Could be my mantra.
