So I have been at this ashram in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec for about two weeks and it has been intense! A true highlight has been meeting my pal Alice who manages the boutique and totally knows the ropes. She has all of these brilliant tattoos (like stars and the word NON) and she has just turned me on here at the library to this band she likes, Catfish Haven. She wants to move to Oregon and I totally think she should. You are probably wondering what it is like at an ashram: wake-up bell at 5:30, morning meditation and devotional chanting in Sanskrit (the spiritual orientation here is Hindu) for two hours then yoga for two hours, then a vegetarian brunch, then karma yoga (I have been cleaning the temple which is lovely) then a break in the afternoon when I usually go swimming or take a nap and then more yoga and dinner and more meditation. And of course it is so beautiful up here. The other day we snuck out and ended up at a diner that was not unlike Pulp Fiction and we ordered practically everything on the menu! The village can expect more mayhem today. I am especially on the lookout for poutine and sugar pie. Delicious.
wait-- there were guns and everything? And Amanda what's her name calling everyone honey bunny? Kind of a scary way to eat eggs, non?
