Been working so much, pretty much all weekend, actually, with no end in sight. I only have one event left for the year: Anne Landsman at KGB this Sunday. Do join us if you're in the neighborhood! The new edition of The Smart Set is up at MaudNewton.com. I had two brilliant meetings today -- one with the very visionary director of Kunstverein München, where I also very briefly met one half of Dexter Sinister -- but am too beat to go to a party at the French Embassy tonight as I'd originally planned. [Other bright spots this afternoon: a $2 copy of The Selected Letters of Lady Mary Wortley Montagu on a cart in front of a used bookshop on West 18th Street, a quick but restorative hot chocolate complete with giant marshmallow from City Bakery.] Instead, I'm ordering in and working until I get a few more things squared away. Plus, I need to to find some space or create a way to take a break or just chillax so posting will be light while I ponder what that means (a trip this month? fewer projects next year? Dunno). In general, I always prefer to do less, better, but one must reconcile that desire with the capitalist society in which we live. Anyway... for now, the contest remains very much an open field. One of the highlights of my week last week was that I decided to buy a painting from the artist I mentioned. You can see it in both of these photos, which make me want to snap up all the works pictured but then I would need a bigger apartment (for starters). Photos and art by Dan Sabau:
* A spiritual sequel of sorts to this post.
