Over the weekend I did a little traveling, a little relaxing, a little shopping (nothing too exciting per se), but I do want to mention two very good books I read: Kensington Gardens, beautifully written and beautifully translated, a jaw-droppingly dazzling reminder of why contemporary fiction matters (and why people get such mad slavering crushes on FSG), and Dublin: A Cultural History, a phenomenally alluring overview of the history of one of the world's most overlooked (and intriguing) cities, part of the "Cityscapes" series published by Oxford University Press (I'm thinking, next: Zagreb, Hong Kong, Cairo, Moscow, Flanders, Budapest, Seville...).
