Sunday nights are probably my favorite time of the week, although that's a relatively recent development in my life. I used to work every day nonstop and lately, I keep a low profile on the weekends. Radical, I know. Sunday evenings usually find me hanging out at Maison de Lux, these days drinking tea (although, Porthault teapot aside, I could never've been a debutante; I pour too fast), reading, and if the night is just right in terms of soulful solitude, doing dishes to the tune of Chet Baker. Whenever I tell men I like him, they are always down on it (well, besides the ex-pro trumpet player I had dinner with last week, and my hairdresser, who styled the movie), although the only line I ever gave a moment's thought was, "don’t listen to too much Chet Baker. Getting found is much better than getting lost, trust me."
Evenings of peaceful promise aside, this week is Work City (all lunches and parties, with the exception of acupuncture tomorrow afternoon), so don't look for action here at Lux Lotus. In the meantime, check out the interview with Terese Svoboda –– whose new books, Weapons Grade: Poems and Trailer Girl: Stories I am publicizing now –– that renewed my faith in the world. Really.
