Friday evening some friends and I checked out the genius Alice Smith show at Highline Ballroom, bookended nicely by dinner at Florent and drinks afterward at La Bottega; two Elderflower Cocktails and we just couldn't hear Echo & The Bunnymen's Killing Moon unless we were singing it. Saturday, I spoke at Book Promotion 101 and caught up with Bella Stander, always a pleasure, who I'll see again at the Virginia Festival of the Book in a few weeks. Yesterday afternoon was Girls Write Now Day, a local celebration of International Womens Day (What's that? See here and here) and what a celebration it was! Anne Landsman and I had a few blissful moments to chat about her post-London whirlwind at the reception, but there's never enough time! We'll have to rendezvous again at B Bar when the weather's nice. Today I traipsed around (I wore a kelly green halter top full-length dress with eyelet hem and a cherished new gift-- an exquisite garland of felted flowers that is something quite like this-- to brunch at Park Avenue Winter and felt like Persephone! It was brilliant), talked on the phone and did Sunday-ish stuff like discussing whether Balenciaga bellbottoms for men are ridiculous or totally prescient. Thoughts?
