Windowlicker

I can hardly think of a better figure to embody the spirit of a new year than Truman Capote: the New Orleans native had his highs -- he wrote stunning, now classic nonfiction and fiction (In Cold Blood, Breakfast at Tiffany's) and threw a legendary party that still sets the standard (The Black & White Ball in 1966) -- and his lows (most notably the very public loss of friends after he allegedly betrayed their confidences in his later writing). In short, he  was all too human. And although I can't imagine anyone would buy it to wear it, I can hardly think of a better way to start the year, symbolically at least, than to acquire the wardrobe for the parties you'd like to attend. Life has a marvelous way of delivering the goods when one is dressed for the occasion.

Windowlicker - from the French for window shopping: faire du lèche-vitrine - appears on Tuesday and Thursdays at 10am EST-ish.
