The January Agenda
2008 is off to a brilliant start. I'm busier than ever despite adhering to my mantra of doing less, better. Professionally speaking, I have some marvelous cultural events for you New Yorkers this month:
January 10: Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl) + Nicole Atkins "Upstairs at the Square" (Above: Nicole performing "The Way It Is" on David Letterman in October)
January 18: The Girls Write Now 10th Anniversary Winter Reading. An Evening with Young Writers and the Women Who Inspire Them.
I've also got a few speaking engagements scheduled around the country this spring:
January 14 in DC: The WNBA's "Promotion and Publicity for New Authors."
In March, I'll be speaking at the Virginia Festival of the Book again, per invitation of Bella Stander. The list of festival participants is only partially up, but I can't wait to see Dallas Hudgens and Anne Landsman, whose new novels I publicized last fall, and Quinn Dalton and M.J. Rose, who I've been lucky to work with in the past. And y'all know I love Charlottesville.
And in June, you can find me at the Nebraska Summer Writers' Conference!
On a personal note, one of my resolutions this year is to do the things I've always wanted to do, and I'm jazzed to report I signed up for an Isadora Duncan dance intensive later this month. As always, I am all for "the Revelation of Beauty."
