Soko, "I'll Kill Her."
I would first like to emphasize for concerned readers that I do not share the feelings depicted in this video/song today (emphasis on today; plus, I'm more like Cut Copy's "Time Stands Still"). This reminds me of a short story in real-time, and of Dorothy Allison's beautifully evocative comment: "A short story opens the door to a brightly lit room." As cultural stylist Joanna Goddard of A Cup of Jo, who turned me on to it, notes, there are reasons this shouldn't work... "stream-of-consciousness"... "The girl is singing about a guy who left her for someone else"... and yet it does. It's a nice metaphor for innovation and experimentation, which is what I'm actually thinking about at the moment.
