I was just having breakfast (cough, lunch) down at the cafe and flipping through the new issue of Harper's Bazaar and there is an article on 'why eccentrics matter in fashion,' which I found patently ridiculous... I thought to myself: 'Is that even a question? What else is there in life but to be original, curious and fearlessly bold? And if you are, wouldn't you dress that way?' But still, it can be a greige world out there. And of course, upon reflection, I realized that I might not be the target audience for that piece, as I was wearing: gold eyeglasses, a neon orange tennis skirt, and a short blue cape plus a big white tote bag covered in black skulls and hearts that I bought at a 99 cent store in Chinatown. So yeah.... The only trend that I liked therein was the homage to Birkin bags, okay sure, and a several page spread featuring models with long, straightened hair wearing exaggerated cat's eye eyeliner (a la Amy Winehouse), which is so right right now, a look described best at the MAC Professional site by a makeup artist at the shows in Milan who remixed classic Italian pin-up style “to look like they’ve fallen off the moon: sexual, graphic a little futuristic..."

My dear, I am the target market for that piece: vanilla through and through. Which is why you are my hero.
