Via Marco, of the stupendously cool AnimaMundi:
Four Jobs I've Had: Media Outreach Intern, Communications Assistant/Media Outreach Coordinator, Publicist, PR Director
Four Movies I Can Watch Over and Over: My Summer of Love, The Dreamers, The Last Seduction, Anything directed by Craig Macneill.
Four Places I've Lived: New Orleans, New Mexico, San Francisco, New York.
Four TV Shows I Love: Arrested Development, Gilmore Girls, My So-Called Life, The X Files. Honorable mention: Flip This House.
Four Places I've Vacationed: Martha's Vineyard, Lyon, Antwerp, Big Sur. Honorable mention: White Sands.
Four of My Favorites Dishes: Since it's a particularly vibrant recent memory, I'll go with my choices at Danube last night -- Carinthia "Schlutzkrapfen" High Altitude Austrian Cheese Ravioli with Harvest Corn Sauce and Smoked Wild Mushrooms followed by Wiener Schnitzel with Austrian Crescent Potatoes, Cucumber Salad, Mixed Greens and Lingonberries and a dessert of Bohemian Liwanzen with Powidl, Topfen, Plum Ragout and Prune Armagnac Ice Cream. And for the fourth, probably street food -- crepes in Paris or waffles in Belgium, piping hot and hastily pressed to serve in slightly greasy waxed paper.
Four Sites I Visit Daily: Style.com horoscopes, Bloglines.com (where I currently subscribe to 199 feeds) [Did I miss something I should be reading? Let me know.], Economist.com, Tricycle.com (just for "The Daily Dharma").
Plus one that I am adding -- Four Underrated Conversational Topics: Taxidermy, The Moons of Distant Planets, The Politics of Supply Chains, Color Therapy.
Four Bloggers I'm Tagging: Dallas, Tayari, Marcy and Max.
Honorary mention: special Lux Lotus correspondent, Peach in the City.

Losing this eBay auction, ending shortly, is quite vexing so today's Windowlicker is, once again, an elusive object of desire:
...vintage bug collection from Paris. 85 insects, majority are labeled and in French. Framed glass box is 16"L x 11"W x 3"deep. Box opens and has a label on back marked " LES FILS D'EMILE DEYROLLE, # 53154, 46 Rue du Bac, PARIS...
Related: Deyrolle.
Previously on Lux Lotus: Collecting Desire.
Windowlicker - from the French for window shopping: faire du lèche-vitrine - appears on Tuesday and Thursdays at 10am EST.

There are some gems among these postcards, such as the one seen above. This one sounds straight out of Scott Westerfeld's parasitic vampire love story, Peeps! Do you have a favorite postcard? I like the artist's style, and the expression of creativity in a clever manner. The project also reminds me, in a good way, of both Anne Taintor and Supermodel Personals.

Last night I was seriously considering taking a trip to Budapest (requires no explanation), Ljubjlana (Celica: Youth Hostel, Art Gallery, Former Prison!) and Trieste (port cities of faded grandeur have always been my thing) while the late winter fares to Europe are cheap but then, this evening, I decided to walk a few blocks to Danube for dinner instead.
From the moment I glimpsed the deep bronze and laquered algae-blue interior through the potted hedgerow trimmed in blue lights, I found myself drowsily enveloped in a sharp, organic vision of jugendstijl, art nouveau heaven. The triangular dining room - with elaborate paneling, Klimt-inspired decor, warmly shaded low-hanging lamps and bronze drapes - alone is worth a visit, and the divine food only enhances the positively celestial ambiance.
The menu is divided into sections devoted to a tasting menu, market eclectic and chef's market choice selections, but I made all of my choices in the Austrian vein: Carinthia "Schlutzkrapfen" High Altitude Austrian Cheese Ravioli with Harvest Corn Sauce and Smoked Wild Mushrooms followed by Wiener Schnitzel with Austrian Crescent Potatoes, Cucumber Salad, Mixed Greens and Lingonberries and a dessert of Bohemian Liwanzen with Powidl, Topfen, Plum Ragout and Prune Armagnac Ice Cream. In between each course, various amuses-bouche were elegantly proffered and the service was stunning. Highly recommended.
Shortlisted: David Bouley's East of Paris: The New Cuisines of Austria and The Danube, which I almost picked up at the Neue Galerie bookshop last week but just discovered at Powell's for only $12.98! It's the perfect chic gift for a friend with a winter birthday.

Bjork and Matthew Barney had a baby and I am sure it is precious and looks like an everyday New York infant sophisticate but in daydream fashion fantasy world, if Bjork and Matthew Barney had a baby it would look like this:
