Back in the city for a few days before I split again, but then after that I'll be back again for a good long while. Isn't that what August is for? Last night's "Upstairs at the Square" was dazzling -- definitely visit www.bn.com/writers for the audio recording as Duncan Sheik's world premiere of a duet from his Broadway-bound Spring Awakening will amaze you. This afternoon I spent some QT with downtown style icon Ms. Jen Bekman, gallerist extraordinaire and bestower of golden pedicures (Nars' "Ziggy" is too perfect). Other genuine pleasures this week: seeing The Smuin Ballet, flipping through Lula magazine, and making an appointment to get my hair cut by Gerald DeCock at the Hotel Chelsea.
