Windowlicker

Last night I saw the Stephen Petronio Company perform at The Joyce. It was extraordinary, visceral, emotive, joyful, deeply moving, luminous, full of wonder, and life-affirming. I had to download Rufus Wainwright's Oh What a World immediately upon walking through the door to my apartment, as portions of that song opened the evening with a gorgeous, intimately felt duet by two male dancers. Tara Subkoff of Imitation of Christ designed the costumes (shared credit with Rachel Roy) for the two world premieres, Bud and Bloom, and despite my initial skepticism, they were actually quite perfect, from the bustling flounce of hot pink tulle emerging from behind the stark white oxfords of female dancers in an early piece to exquisite goddess-y pleated sage green dresses finished ending in divine egg-shaped skirts later in the program. In honor of Subkoff's exceptionally bright work, today's Windowlicker features her "Steffie" wedge for Easy Spirit in dark grey leather (and various other shades and finishes, $240). With that, I'm headed upstate for the weekend. Back Sunday, doves. XO.

La Mode, Le Monde, Les Copains

Professionally speaking, this week has been an absolute frenzy, but that's kind of the general vibe that's shaping up these days. In other news, yesterday was a banner day for the gift that keeps on giving: fashion magazines from abroad. Neighborhood pal girlynyc returned from surfing in the Canary Islands to bestow French Elle, Vogue Espana (and Complementos) and my personal favorite, Air France Madame, upon yours truly. And then, in response to some magical alignment of the cosmos, Lucille + Tom arrived, as part of their eleven-hour layover between London and San Francisco, with Paris Vogue and Lecturas Moda. Other discoveries in the past few days: 66 has perfect ambiance and the food is extraordinary. And oh yes, even if you only have 30 minutes, and it's 9pm, and you still have to help your boyfriend write the speech he's giving at your alma mater on Thursday, address invitations for a sexy downtown benefit, and answer a million urgent emails, a private yoga session makes it better. That and just one cigarette.

The Weekend Report: Pagan Rites, Perfect Weather

Pictured, the chic and darling tea cup, pale with poppy polka-dots and oh so spring, and other accoutrements (including pretty fortune cards) from Sue Pollock as part of Beth Stellato's Tea Cup Swap. I received it on Saturday, and it made my day. My younger brother came to visit for the weekend, which was endlessly fun, especially when our mother overnighted us some Neuhaus and Saxon chocolates as an Easter surprise. Last night we had a perfect dinner at local hot spot Blaue Gans. Today, Bryan and I walked down Broadway and looked at some gorgeous buildings. Freakishly dear on a quiet weekend afternoon: Stone Street.
