Red Hook was Rad + Other Diversions
I have been working overtime, doubletime, all-the-time this week, so tales of my adventures have been thin on the ground... Herewith, a round-up: remember how I was stressing about getting to Red Hook and back on Sunday? Well, I shouldn't have, especially when Katherine and I got a ride in a 1955 Buick Special convertible (snapped with my cameraphone, above) from new friend Virginia and her v. cool pal who's new in town. You know my affection for all things rockabilly so you can imagine how my jaw dropped when I saw his car. Other highlights this week: hanging out at The Outpost cafe in Clinton Hill/Bed-Stuy (on Fulton between Grand & Classon) with Andre and Kevin, dinner at Mangez Avec Moi on Monday, gossiping with a future legend over ice cream sundaes at Pearl Oyster Bar, lunch yesterday with Joe, one of my oldest friends who was recently named one of the "30 under 30" rising stars in the Democratic Party at City Hall and always inspires me like mad-mad-mad, and of course, the perfect martini last night at Cercle Rouge. And best of all, Peach in the City will be here for the weekend later today! My reward for getting caught up on all my projects today is going to be... reading for pleasure! First up in the queue: George Bernanos' Mouchette.
