Once our flight got in to LAX and we picked up the rental car, I couldn't drive to In 'n' Out fast enough.

The sundeck at The Standard in West Hollywood.

Poolside hot chocolate on Sunday afternoon.

A mural by Miss Van at Fornarina (related: my profile/interview with her for Trigger Magazine).

Flowers from Dino Dinco and wine from Adrienne, Jami and Mark.

The Standard's in-room magazine, Tokion, featuring a cover by Jeremy Blake, who I met on Tuesday afternoon at the Chateau Marmont...Theresa Duncan, whose blog, The Wit of the Staircase, hangs the moon, has been dating him for years! I was ultra-thrilled by their company.
Best "celebrity sighting" (cue inexorable delight): Tom Ford dining with friends a few tables away at the Sunset Tower on Tuesday night. The restaurant's evidently (and understandably) legendary maitre'd really made it quite an evening, especially when he stopped by our table to note that, "it's about so much more than beauty."
Maybe my life is too whirlwind these days? Perhaps I just want to live in a hotel. Either way, it's been a little jarring to be back in Le Pomme after such a short, sweet three-day break. I was only too happy to meet one of my very best friends for brunch yesterday at Balthazar and then spend the afternoon intermittently whittling down my triple-digit inbox.
Last night was the New York premiere of Quality of Life, an independent film I represent that's screening here for a week. On Sunday night, publishing visionary Richard Nash of Soft Skull Press will be present for a brief post-screening q&a on DIY publishing. Afterparty at Niagara.
If you're downtown, do join us. Oh yeah, and tomorrow's Book Promotion 101, a seminar for forthcoming authors that I'll be participating in all day, and my to-do list when I have some downtime includes whipping up a list of "7 songs that will change the way you think about publicity" for this blog. Note to self: catch up on work, sleep, schedule private yoga session.
At any rate, as always, thank you for reading: it would be impossible to name all of the unbelievably cool people I've met as a result of Lux Lotus. Have a wonderful weekend, doves, and don't pass up a chance to relax!
Great post--glad you're back. I was starting to worry that you'd gotten stuck in a tar pit or been run over by a hummer or something.
